History of Chemistry

For all Third year students ..
Since I am going to throw my old notebooks so I decided to transfer some lessons here so that the students can easily search their assignments.. but please don’t always search in the net cause the books will be useless. :D





1. Fire stage

- 1st chemical reaction used in a controlled manner
- Known as a mystical force that could transform a substance into another substance
- This stage spanned from the discovery of fire to the age of atomism
- Belief in 4 elements: air, water, earth, fire
- Rise of civilization: sumeria, Mesopotamia,Egyptians,Greek ,Indian, Mayan, Chinese
- *Atomism-started in 400 BC when Lucretius wrote the book “De rerum natura”
- *Democritus & Leucippus – declared that atoms are the most indivisible part of matter
- *Aristotle- opposed the idea of atomism in 330 BC

2. Metallurgy

- Graced the period of metal arts
- Involved pottery, perfumery & other crafts
- This stage is the history that started the “bronze age”
- *bronze age- the search for alloys started ; weaponry also started
- *gold- became the first most expensive metal

3. Alchemy – a proto science

- Stage of magic , mysticism and astronomy
- *philosophers stone - a substance that can turn any metal into gold
- *elixir of life – substance that can heal any disease
- *Geoffrey Chaucer’s – know for his Canon’s Yeoman’s tale ; Exposed the manufacture of the counter feet gold from cheap substance.

4. Chemistry

- Age of scientific enlightenment
- Started w/ 9th century scientific method
- *Paracelsus- rejected the 4 elemental theory
- *George Agricola- (1494-1555)
-Father of metallurgy
- “De re metallica” studied composition of minerals
- *Robert boyle- (1627-1691)
-Refined scientific method ; publish “The skeptical chymist” ; laid foundations for chemical revolution
-*Antoine Laurent Lavoisier
-developed the “phlogiston theory”
-father of modern chemist
-law of conservation of mass

Isang Realidad : Tinig Ng Pagsulat

Isa sa nagpapaligaya sa akin ay ang pagsusulat. Hindi man ako isang propesyonal na manunulat ay para sa akin ay malaki ang halagat nito.
Isa lang akong ordinaryong mag-aaral na unti-unting nagkaka muwang sa aking kapaligiran at bansang aking kinalakihan.

Minsan ay aking napagtanto "Bakit ang ibang bansa tulad ng Amerika at China ay mas angat kaysa sa atin na kung tutuusin ay mas madami tayong natatagong yaman na siyang kinaiingitan ng iba.

Sabi nga ng iba Ay dapat noon pa ay mayaman na ang Pilipinas Dahil sa mga nakaupo sa puwesto na nasilaw sa pera ay naging ganid at "CORRUPT"

Ngayon ay kaydaming mamamayang Pilipino ang gumagawa ng illegal upang magkapera. Kaya kaydaming Pilipinong uhaw sa tubig,pera at pagmamahal.

Bakit ko sinasabi ito? Bakit ko kaylangan ilagay ito dito.. dahil gusto kong malamn ninyo na marunong din kaming pumuna at bukas ang aming mga mata! Habang akoy naglalakad sa labas ng simbahan ng OUR LADY OF GRACE PARISH ay kitang kita ko ang mga palaboy ng bata sa labas ang iba'y nakahiga sa mercury drugstore.. At sa ST> JOSEPH THE WORKER PARISH na malapit sa amin ay puro nag rurugby ang mga bata doon na ang iba'y buntis pa. wala naman kaming magagawa at baka magalit pa akin kung pigilan ko sila kay buti n lng nahuli sila at ipinadala sa DSWD at nsa mabuting kalagayan na sila. At sanay mawala ang mga taong nag rurugby sana din ay huwag na ninyong bigyan ng pera sila kundi tinapay o kahit huwag na lng.

Holy Week

Holy Week is a time where we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a way that we do some old practices just like Visita Iglesia , Doing 14 station of the cross, Not eating meats , Watching Senakulo and many more . when days past by many changes happened., since many people now are busy just like my parents.. we dont have time to do this things. But since we are Catholic and it is part in our traditon we need to follow what have our family does.

-->Before we do the 14 station of the Cross. We watch the priest and take a picture on it.

then on the next day we went To Quiapo

--> There are so many people. But we didn't give up even though it is so hot. And thanks God we survive that thick people and we went home very tired and look like we didnt take a bath even in just 2 dayds? :D
